The graphics and the color palette are honestly beautiful, and the game play mechanics work fine. The issue is that this is simply not a complete game. There’s no end-goal to pursue, no objective to accomplish, no resolution to the story (if you can call it a story). The developers flat-out admitted they were giving up on any further updates to work on other projects, without finishing the game. This is the very definition of abandonware. Imagine a visually stunning game where there’s just no point to being there, and you’ll have Among Trees. This is my first ever review on steam. I have been a user for years and have a stupid amount of hours and games on the platform…..that’s how much i enjoyed this game. The art style, the soft melodic music, the sounds of wind and nature….it wraps all of them together in a neat little package. There are a good few negative reviews on here and whilst i can understand where they are coming from i think its important to remember the price point of the game. For me I bought on sale and the game is worth every penny for me. If you like the slow, methodic gameplay of collecting items and using them to build better items and additions to you rshelter then you will love this game. Its basic, but for me that’s the draw of a game like this. I didn’t want to come home from a rough day at work and start to play a game that was essentially a second job, I wanted a game that was beautiful, ran well and was calming and easy to enjoy whilst giving me the basic structure of a goal to work towards. If you are like me then buy this game. you will enjoy it. 10/10 would pet fox and get absolutely destroyed by a bear all over again PS would recommend the mod that allows you to remove the HUD elements for some sweet, sweet screenshot action!!
