About Hero Simulator:
There are times when a game comes out, and it’s really something special. A game that puts such a unique spin on a genre that it becomes a completely unique existence. I’m old enough that I have played several such games in my life. The last game I played that I thought belonged in this category was FTL: Faster than Light. Backpack Hero is a game that follows in FTL’s footsteps. Lots of games have had grid-based management systems. Roguelites have also had level and node-based progression for years, such as Slay the Spire or Vault of the Void. But it’s really the fusion of these two concepts that brings forth a whole new dimension of play and a completely unique, unforgettable gaming experience. There really is no game like Backpack Hero out there. Is BH perfect? No, of course not. It sometimes has odd UI quirks. It’s sometimes a little hard to figure out what will happen when you’re playing CR8 and your super inventory beam shoots around your backpack in the Test menu but doesn’t quite function the same way in battle. It has quirks. But it also has a lot of heart, and a unique premise worth playing. If you like managing inventories and battling through a roguelite game, you’ll love BH. It’s not my favorite game of all time, but it deserves your attention, and it deserves your respect.First of all, let me say that I am really enjoying this game. The mechanics are really fun and I love hunting for synergies.
